The Quest

The Baltimore Orioles have been in town since '54 and have had over 900 men don their uniform. My goal is to obtain a signed card of each player. If you have something I need, or see something you want, don't be shy, we can make a deal.

What's the Point?

I know people are going crazy digging up prizes on Topps but after unlocking my card, the rings seem dumb. I know I can probably research it a little but I like bloggers better than Topps. What's the deal with the gold rings? Are they worth more than just silver ones? Are they just gold for gold's sake?

I still have the Lou Gehrig ring that I don't know what to do with. Hopefully I will have some posts of merit in the near future once I get some more scanning done.

  1. The rings are divided into 3 categories. The silver ones are current teams and the gold ones are retired players and defunct or moved teams. But yes, they are pretty much useless in my mind. Unless, you get the Mickey Mantle ring (60 available) and then you can get a real diamond ring.

  2. Or, if you get x number of rings and redeem it for x prize. I don't care about the iPod skin, though I did redeem it anyway, but I'm over 1/3 of the way to the complete set. I figure if 1/3 of the overall set netted me 1/3 of the necessary rings, I should have it done by the end of the year. Or maybe I'll get lucky and dig the set anyway.
