The Quest

The Baltimore Orioles have been in town since '54 and have had over 900 men don their uniform. My goal is to obtain a signed card of each player. If you have something I need, or see something you want, don't be shy, we can make a deal.

Orioles FanFest Update

With Kyle Hudson being Deisgnated for Assignment and Brian Roberts being out, the Orioles shuffled their line-up a bit for autographs. I like that they added Brian Matusz to the early session, but Pedro Strop, Joe Mahoney, Alfredo Simon and Darren O'Day?

I know it is a pipe dream, but Manny Machado, Dylan Bundy or Tsuyoshi Wada would have made an impact. A big impact. These guys are the future stars on this team, not future role players.

The line-up was lackluster to begin with. Take out everyone's favorite Oriole, Roberts, and it just got bad.

I don't mean to take anything away from the guys signing though. I can use O'Day, or Strop on Postcards if anyone has extras. Also, I have a Jim Palmer slot available that I would trade for a Matt Wieters spot if anyone is looking to deal?

  1. I agree with you about the Brian Roberts' replacements, but in all honesty, I wasn't really expecting anything different. I hope that with this being the 20th Anniversary of Camden Yards, the team does a better job bringing in former O's for signings and on field ceremonies. Specifically, Hall of Fame bound Mike Mussina is a great place to start.

  2. I was hoping for more, but expected it as well. I mirror your comments completely with having more Orioles come back. Mussina is still a little bit of a sore subject with a lot of people. I hated him for leaving, respect the decision now and am happy he never won a ring. But I would love to see him come back and take the mound for a celebration.

  3. Yeah it doesn't have to be Mussina per se, I just think it's fitting given that he's likely to get into the HOF and I think he'll be in as an Oriole and not a Yankee. David Wells, Jimmy Key, Roberto Alomar, and more former O's from their recent 90 playoff teams would be welcome too.

  4. I'm a little surprised that they didn't replace Roberts with a little higher caliber player. He's staying home because he has a "headache" but Markakis is toughing it out since he just had surgery like 2 weeks ago. I think its a BS excuse that the doctor won't let him attend. He just doesn't want to be asked by tons of people why he can't "work" because he has a headache.
