Gordon Dillard came through to get things off on the right foot. I can't stress enough how disappointing it had been to come home every day, check the mailbox only to find junk mail. There are only so many credit card applications and mortgage offers I can ignore.

Dillard was a short lived member of the 1988 Orioles ball-club. In his two August appearances with the club he lasted only three innings with two strikeouts. After the season he was dealt to Philadelphia for outfielder Phil Bradley. His career spanned only five more games in Philadelphia in 1989 before his final two years were spent toiling about the minors.
